What every operator needs before departure
Bow to Stern verifies each operator's boating-safety documentation and photo ID — we do not issue a government credential. Every reservation must clear this step before the exact departure address is released and before equipment leaves the dock.
Age requirements
- • You must be at least 18 to rent a jet ski.
- • You must be at least 14 to operate a jet ski, with an approved credential.
- • Every potential operator on a reservation is checked individually — not just the renter of record.
Do you already have a boating-safety credential?
Yes — I have documentation
Upload your boating-safety card, course-completion certificate, temporary certificate, or acceptable NASBLA-approved out-of-state proof, along with a matching government-issued photo ID. Our team reviews and approves each submission.
Upload becomes available during checkout — this review flow ships with the full booking platform.
No — I need to get certified
Complete Florida's official Temporary Certificate Program: a 25-question exam (19 correct to pass) that produces a certificate valid for 90 days. You'll still need to carry matching photo ID.

Credential and ID review must be completed and approved no later than two hours before your reservation start time. The exact departure address and arrival instructions stay hidden until approval is confirmed. If the deadline passes without approved documentation, the reservation is marked Compliance Deadline Missed and equipment release is blocked — see the cancellation and refund policy accepted at checkout for what happens next.
This page reflects current Florida FWC public guidance and is not legal advice. Bow to Stern verifies submitted credentials but does not administer the Florida exam or issue a government credential.
